Ozone Day Celebrations - 2018
Focal theme for the year 2018 is: “ keep cool and carry on! The Montreal Protocol
The United Nations (UN) International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is celebrated on September 16 every year. This event commemorates the date of the signing of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the Ozone Layer in 1987. World Ozone Day has been celebrated since 1994 and was established by the United Nations General Assembly.The day is mainly intended to spread awareness of the depletion of the ozone layer and search for solutions to preserve it. As part of the annual celebartion, Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment coordinate state wide activities to create awareness on topics related to climate change and ozone delpetion and wherin offers financial support for conducting various programmes based on focal theme
Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) invites proposals for the observance of Ozone Day from (Govt./Aided) Colleges including professional colleges, Polytechnics Colleges (Govt./Aided) , R&D instituions (State & Central, Institutions under KSCSTE), Govt./Aided Schools, Universities and Departments, Industrial Training Institutes (ITI's) (Govt./Aided) Registered Non Governmental Organisations within the State of Kerala eligible as per guidelines laid down by KSCSTE. Finalized programmes schedule of Ozone Day Celebrations 2018 should be furnished along with the proposal. The focal theme for 2018 Ozone Day celebrations is: “ keep cool and carry on! The Montreal Protocol”. Duly filled applications endoresed by the Head of the instituion are required to be submitted in the giver format available in the website of KSCSTE. The proposals as hardcopy should be submitted to The Director, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Sasthra Bhavan, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram-695004 in the prescribed format on or before 17 August 2018.
