Kerala Biotechnology Commission

The Government of Kerala have constituted the Kerala Biotechnology Board to create the best environment in the State for the growth of Biotechnology as defned in the Biotechnology Policy.  The Biotechnology Board shall take all top level administrative and fnancial decisions to create the best environment in the State for the growth of biotechnology. The Kerala Biotechnology Commission is responsible for the implementation of the Biotechnology Policy and other guidelines laid down by the Biotechnology Board. Currently KBC is serviced by KSCSTE.
Objectives of KBC
  • Provide research support to young scientists for pursuing research in emerging areas of biotechnology
  • Provide support for translational research in various disciplines of biotechnology with industrial partnership
  • Extend support for conducting training programmes to promote rural innovations for developing biotech based products targeting rural women
  • Build up and strengthen the human resource capacity in biotechnology through supporting training and workshop initiatives in the emerging areas of biotechnology
  • Promote biotechnology related entrepreneurial ventures, start-ups and industrial establishments in the State
