Kerala Biotechnology Commission also calls proposals for its newly initiated programme called 

The objective of the programme is to provide young faculties and scientists in biotechnology, an opportunity to have national and international collaborative research training, exposure to advanced techniques and technologies in emerging fields of biotechnology, thereby furthering their research capacity and ability to contribute to higher education with a global perspective and forging long-term relationships with distinguished experts in these fields. Currently the programme is tenable in Indian Institutes only.
The applicant should be a permanent faculty / scientist in a University/Institution in Kerala. Faculty/Scientists from State Institutions shall be preferred.   The applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree in biotechnology / related subjects.  The applicant should have proven record of independent research work evidenced by publications in peer reviewed, indexed journals.
Age Limit - 45 years 
Place of work
The nominee should obtain a concurrence letter from a university/scientific/technological/ research institution in India, which is a recognized outstanding institution where major work in the area of study identified by the nominee is in progress. There should be willingness on the part of the host institution to accept and extend necessary support to the candidate for the work proposed. No bench fee will be charged by host institution. The period of the fellowship shall be 1 year.
Fellowship: Two types of support are provided:
1. Sabbatical: For those who are given sabbatical leave, the salary and service shall be protected by the parent institution, the travel and maintenance allowance (maximum of Rs.35,000/- month) will be met by KBC.  The maximum period of the fellowship shall be 1 year  
2. Fully Supportive: For those who have taken leave, the salary will be protected (to the pay band of Assistant Professor / Scientist B) by KBC along with maintenance allowance (maximum of Rs.35,000/- month) as well as to and fro travel.   
Selected Fellows shall also be entitled to a one-time personal contingency grant of   a maximum of Rs. 5 lakhs to cover work expenses and consumables at the host institution.
