To strengthen biotechnology education and man power development, the Commission is proposing the following activities
(a) Industrial Training for Post Graduate students: To bridge the gap between industry requirement and academic programme, industrial training will be facilitated to PG students by encouraging students to do projects in the industry. Selected students shall be given stipend @ Rs.5000/- pm for 4 months and the Institutional fees (Rs.25000/-).
(b) Industry Associateship programme for faculty /mid-career scientists : to work in industry for 6-8 weeks every year for 3 years. In addition to, to and fro travel and per diem allowance of Rs. 15,000/- for actual days availed, a contingency grant of Rs. 10000/-shall be provided.
(c) 2-4 weeks training for mid-career scientists/ faculty for up gradation of skills. The proposals received at the KBC Secretariat are reviewed by experts in each field. Different subject expert committees shall be constituted for the evaluation of project proposals/research programmes in Agriculture Biotechnology, Environment Biotechnology, Biotechnology in Health and Medicine, Marine Biotechnology and also for HRD programmes. After getting the comments from experts, the short listed project investigators shall be called for presentation and based on the recommendations of the expert committee, the projects are approved. Once the project is approved, a formal sanction order is issued showing the detailed break up of funds allocated under various heads for three years. The first year grant will be released within one month from the date of sanctioning of the project after executing an agreement.
The last date of receiving the applications is on or before December 30, 2016.
